Backstory
One night, the title “Ring Around the Rosie” just came into my head. I knew the nursery rhyme, and I thought it could make a fun dance song. It also seemed like a great song for Halloween.
The finished song takes that familiar circle and keeps it moving. The lyrics return to turning, falling, getting back up, and beginning again. The seasons turn, too, giving the familiar rhyme a darker, hypnotic feeling while the rhythm keeps the dance going.
This was one of my easier songs to create. From that first idea to having the lyrics written and the entire song put to music took only a few weeks. Compared with some of my other songs, it came together relatively quickly.
There really isn't an elaborate backstory. A title came to me one night, I recognized the possibility of a dance song in a nursery rhyme, and I thought it would be a great fit for Halloween.
