I Bind Your Soul to Mine

Lyrics

Per ignem et noctem, te voco Carmen in mente tua figo Semel audis, semper redibis Animam tuam ad meam ligo [Verse 1] Black rain shone on the roots like oil I drew the ring in salt and soil You came through the pines with blood on your sleeve And a knife-scar smile I wanted to believe I hooked my finger behind your belt And pulled you close as thunder rolled [Pre-Chorus] Turn me once Turn me twice Third turn is the price. Heel to heel Hip to hip Moonlight spills down my neck [Chorus] I bind your soul to mine Round and round the fire we dance Your hand leads flesh and flame Where dark desire speaks your name I bind your soul to mine Round and round, the ring draws tight My lips throb as we grind Our shadows writhe against the light [Verse 2] You bit the ribbon out of my hair A briar caught my dress; I left it there Your belt slapped against my thigh The fiddle answered with a widow’s cry Your mouth tasted of rain and cloves Your teeth found the pulse below my throat My nails drew four red roads down your spine My bones took the measure of yours against mine [Pre-Chorus] Heel to heel Breath to Breth Dance me through The veil of death [Half-Chorus] I bind your soul to mine Round and round the fire we dance Your hand leads flesh and flame Where dark desire speaks your name [Bridge] I laid the knife between our feet Edge in the earth, handle turned to me You crossed the blade without looking down [Bridge Part 2] My swaying hips summoned new life The circle closed around the knife No hymn but the fiddle’s ragged tune [Eight-Count Ritual Breakdown] One — Your thumb at the hinge of my hip Two — My teeth on the scar of your lip Three — The red cord creasing your skin Four — The black woods folding us in Five — Your pulse beneath my palm Six — Every breathing thing gone still Seven — The flames all bending my way Eight — You forgot your own name [Final Chorus] I bind your soul to mine Round and round till the black trees lean You came to the ring with a face of your own Now you wear the one I dream I bind your soul to mine While the ritual bell in-tones Till your marrow carries my mark And my name rattles inside your bones [Outro] The cord unwinds Your scar My teeth Your breath Against my neck Reetus complehtus est — meus es.
