The Zombie Stomp

Lyrics

[Verse 1] Friday night, the place was packed Boot heels pounded out the beat Across the road, beyond the lot Fresh dirt slid from a burial plot One hand rose through broken ground Then another grave gave way They crossed the road without a sound And stepped in like they’d danced all day [Chorus] DO THE ZOMBIE STOMP! LEFT and RIGHT, HEEL and TOE STOMP, STOMP, TURN and GO GO and TURN, STOMP, STOMP TOE and HEEL, RIGHT and LEFT DO THE ZOMBIE STOMP! [Verse 2] They didn’t bite, they didn’t chase They took their spot and found their pace Mud on their boots, dirt on their clothes Dancing dead, lining row after row A couple laughed and joined the line Two more stepped in right behind One turned back toward the door But turned with everybody once more [Chorus] DO THE ZOMBIE STOMP! LEFT and RIGHT, HEEL and TOE STOMP, STOMP, TURN and GO GO and TURN, STOMP, STOMP TOE and HEEL, RIGHT and LEFT DO THE ZOMBIE STOMP! [Bridge] One foot moved before they chose Then the rhythm took their souls Legs kept shifting on their own Beat by beat, the spark was gone Living bodies lost control Step by step, the crowd grew cold Eyes went hollow, faces white Beat by beat, freshly dead unite Doing the ZOMBIE STOMP! [Verse 3] Dead men stomping on the floor Back from the grave wanting more At closing time, the lights came on The speakers died; the feet went on The front door stood wide to the street Still the whole room kept the beat No fiddle played, drummer stopped No end to the ZOMBIE STOMP! [Final Chorus] WE ALL DO THE ZOMBIE STOMP! LEFT and RIGHT, HEEL and TOE STOMP, STOMP, TURN and GO GO and TURN, STOMP, STOMP TOE and HEEL, RIGHT and LEFT WE ALL DO THE ZOMBIE STOMP! [Final Chorus] WE ALL DO THE ZOMBIE STOMP! LEFT and RIGHT, HEEL and TOE STOMP, STOMP, TURN and GO GO and TURN, STOMP, STOMP TOE and HEEL, RIGHT and LEFT WE ALL DO THE ZOMBIE STOMP!
